Bollingen Series
This landmark series of books, which ultimately grew to to a hundred titles (and over two hundred and fifty volumes) was started in 1940 by Paul and Mary Mellon, under the aegis of The Bollingen Foundation (named after C.G. Jung’s home). From the first volume (Where the Two Came to Their Father), the series featured many important books in psychology, mythology, archaeology, art history, religion, literature, and related fields, including the collected works of C. G. Jung, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Paul Valéry.
Joseph Campbell wrote and edited over a dozen volumes for the series, including four titles in the posthumous works of Heinrich Zimmer, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, the Eranos Yearbooks, and the final Bollingen title, The Mythic Image.
