Whether there is a God, whether one can be united with God, whether one can transcend God, and all that, it’s a perfect matter simply of vocabulary. And since the ultimate mystery of being transcends all oppositions, it also transcends the opposition of mystery of “there is a God” and “there isn’t a God.” So no matter how you’re thinking about it, just remember you’re thinking about something that can’t be thought about.

This lecture was recorded at an Esalen Institute workshop in New York, NY in 1971.
