In a piece for Entrepreneur on leadership in 2021, author and leadership coach, Santhosh Babu, highlights wisdom from the Mahabharata, Frida Kahlo, and Joseph Campbell. In the article, Babu cites an idea that Campbell wrote about in The Hero with A Thousand Faces. Babu summarizes Campbell, saying, “Joseph Campbell, American Professor, author and mythologist said, ‘Tragedy is an unfinished comedy’. Campbell’s full and actual quote states, “Tragedy is the shattering of forms and of our attachment to them; comedy the wild and careless, inexhaustible joy of life invincible [together] they constitute the totality of the revelation that is life, and which the individual must know and love if he is to be purged of the contagion of sin and death,” on page 21 of Hero, and can be viewed here.
