Yes fond memories of youth are great ! Now that I’m older it’s lots of fun to imbue them with literary and mythic allusion . The “six year pigmy“ was a nod to Wordsworth’s Ode . I hope Lord and Rings is obvious. I do like Tolkien . The Circus and it’s three rings for me also triggers memories of reading I’ve done on the structure of Genesis week in the Bible . First three Days 1 2 3 three spheres (rings) are constructed . Second three days 4 5 6 corresponding inhabitants are created for those spheres . Water – fish , land – plants animals (middle earth) , air – birds … this correspondent structure is also found in the iChing two trigram stack … 1-4, 2-5 , 3-6 …. Lots of fun for free associations and streams of consciousness … I do enjoy the way the pattern recognition capabilities of my mind works .
The Circus at the Gardens was nice but I think it lost some of the charm of the tent show . The ole Babylon vs the Tabernacle in the Tent dichotomy . Tabernacle vs Temple. Country vs City . Enkidu vs Gilgamesh . Esau vs Jacob . These mythic themes are eternal . The caravan of animals and pitching of the tent of civilization . It is now become mechanized automated . The Crazy Train !! Give’em Bread and Circus !!! Maximus !!! The show must go on !!!

much can be lost in translation especially where metaphor and myth meet . In John 1:1 “word” in the original Greek is Logos . There have been volumes written on the intended meaning and insights that are referred to. There are philosophical and metaphysical debates going on to this day that affect our contemporary understanding of the very nature of reality vs our Human perception of reality… I enjoy being a fly on the wall listening to these debates … With Greek language come Greek rational logical discourse and the foundation and bedrock of western thought and civilization. The evolution of language and abstract thought is Fascinating. From its inception and emergence the need to Comprehend encode and convey information Has grown as a tree along with our species . I love the organic metaphor of vegetation both annual and perennial. Our ancestral family tree , the etymological tree of languages , Darwin’s tree of life , Genesis tree of life and tree of knowledge , the Burning Bush . One and All metaphors … “There is a tree of many One” . I saw Oliver for the first time as a child at Radio City Music Hall . Quite an event . I remember identifying with Oliver as a child , empathizing . I suppose we all did that as children . Now that I am older it still doesn’t lose its magic. Though now through imposition of meaning and conscious eisegesis the Art takes on a multidimensional aspect that I was blind to as a child . So much Archetypical symbolism intended and unintended by the artist can be discerned and imposed . The magic is still there and so much more real for the contemplation .
