I like the Sphinx riddle. The three legs of old age the stages of life. Birth life death, infancy middle then old age. The legs we stand on in old age.
The cane the walking stick the staff that symbolizes the unique journey of an individual life. It grows organically tempered by time place trauma success . Solidifies concretizes in old age informed by the choices we’ve made , lessons we’ve learned in life. The stick that aides us with our limp. It implies the trinity , the “Three quarks for Muster Mark! / Sure he hasn’t got much of a bark / And sure any he has it’s all beside the mark.” , and begs the next step back to the quaternary for completion. The four sides of the classical mandala . The four levels of interpretation of scripture , the four levels of Pardes , the four levels of consciousness,etc. etc.

The theme of metamorphosis is both ancient and timely it is an eternal metaphor of organic change … From insect moth butterfly ,The Golden Ass & Ovid to Kafka & Metamorpho, real name Rex Mason of DC comics. The allusion are quite profound and lots of fun to play with. Such exquisite metaphysical connotation can be aroused with the words and imagery of the metamorphic process. After all is said and done
“You’re a Butterfly and the Butterflies are free to fly”
There is also the shadow side of those that believe they have transformed and risen above the heard of common humanity.

Love the alien , ET , genre in art music & literature. Everything from the Drake equation to conspiracy theory. Project Blue Book, SETI, Stranger in a Strange Land , Carl Sagan’s Contact, Asimov , Jules Vernes , H.G Wells , etc., etc., and of course Star Wars segue Joseph Campbell. The forms and types are well ensconced in our collective modern psyche. Lots of fun to contemplate their multidimensional multimedia presence. The cosmos is becoming a much smaller place once quantified. They are here ! In our minds and thoughts.
