……….I don’t know what exactly to look for coming back. But here’s it is, my name is William and first of all I’d like to just say ‘Hi’ to all whoever’s reading this. I’m sure all of us here are effected by the current Pandemic of the virus that’s been going on now. So I wish you all to stay safe, and please stay healthy, stay vigilant against any insecurities out there. It has been a very confusing and honestly, a troubling time that the world has evolved into now. I’m saying this from the bottom of my heart, because I’m having the feeling that, it is the time, where people need to ‘think’ and start asking many questions. I started asking questions about my own previous beliefs, especially about how politics has influenced my business oriented family, and now how that will effect my family’s safety as well. Also especially, its becoming clear that I have to start asking questions of whom we are supporting in the world as leaders nowadays….in a sense, Mythology is also evolving. Despite the works of Campbell were written back in those days, I do think that we can go back, and use that to update to whats happening now. In a way, we as human beings living on Earth has become a cog in the economic machinery (Star Wars example refer by Campbell to Moyers), and therefore, slowly it feels as if our souls are slowly being chipped away as time goes on while Earth evolves into the future.
I don’t know how often I’ll be posting stuff here, but I can start off by just doing it whenever I felt possible. I do believe that all our individual lives can be viewed as a ‘Myth.’ And to just only ‘Read’ or ‘Listen’ to what others had to say, can make a difference to anyone at different points of life. so I’ll be back in some other times…Thanks and to the wanderers out there please take are and stay Healthy!April 22, 2020 at 1:03 pm #73514Welcome William!
Thank you for that heartfelt first post. These are, indeed, potentially myth generating times, and we should be particularly mindful of that. Campbell’s work, as much as it was written half a century ago is, as you say, still pertinent. Very much so!
Take care!

April 23, 2020 at 3:28 am #73513Hi Michael! Thanks for the reply, I hope everything is fine and good for you. I actually felt that it’s quite ironic, that myth-wise in today’s world isn’t really about dragons, or monsters, or having the hero travel thousands of miles to reach their goals. It’s not about ‘going out’ there somewhere, or identifying obstacles (dragons) outside of us, though it could be still. But what this pandemic has really brought out in the world, is the inner darkness as well. That cave, which has always been defined as the place where the greatest treasure were hidden, is actually a metaphor of people ourselves.
I do believe that nowadays, its becoming even more apparent that we have to deal with ourselves, and look at ourselves to be more aware of our own place in the world.Stay Safe and Stay Healthy

April 23, 2020 at 3:46 am #73512It does intrigue me that circumstances have arisen where everyone has been asked to “go inside.”
Yes, I know the authorities intend that literally – don’t be mingling with the crowds – but I am finding more and more of us are looking at that on a deeper level, expanding our understanding of the instruction to “go inside.” It’s “as if,” to borrow Joe’s phrase, the coronavirus (perhaps as the agent of Mother Nature, or the Earth — good old Gaia – is advising us to turn inward, explore our own depths.
Or, at any rate, that’s how I prefer to mythologize and re-imagine what’s happening.
This is a long, leisurely, sweet hello – we should probably continue this in the main forums. There does seem to be a thread or two related to the pandemic already in progress in the Myth in the News forum. You might take a look and see if you can relate your thoughts to one of those and respond, or start a conversation yourself.
April 23, 2020 at 7:45 am #73511Thank You Stephen! I’ll be sure to look around.

I’ll keep this quote and start from here^_^
April 28, 2020 at 3:03 pm #73510Hi savemysoul (William)!
We conversed elsewhere in the forum about the mummy and the dead bird experiences we’ve had, and I hope to talk more with you in the future. I really enjoyed your descriptive story about wanting to save the dead bird.
